Ukraine has announced the start of large-scale manufacturing for a new locally engineered interceptor drone to strengthen its aerial protection systems. Three initial producers have begun manufacturing, with an additional eleven getting ready to set up production lines, the defence ministry stated this past Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Tested in Battlefield Conditions

The drones utilize a domestically developed system called “Octopus” engineered to intercept Iranian-made drones. This technology has been tested in combat and demonstrated successful “during nighttime, under jamming and flying low,” the ministry stated. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established an ambitious goal of producing up to 1,000 defensive drones daily.

Latest Attack on Kyiv Described as Calculated

Volodymyr Zelenskyy described Moscow's most recent assault against Ukraine as “intentional, calculated and brutal” after six individuals were killed and dozens wounded in a series of nocturnal attacks across Kyiv. Alert systems activated in the capital shortly after 12 AM on Friday, with Shahed drones quickly heard overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

The president reported the country was targeted by 430 drones and multiple missiles. The deceased were at home in an apartment building on the capital's left bank during the strike. Dozens of other buildings sustained damage, among them the Azerbaijani embassy.

International Objection After Diplomatic Compound Destruction

Azerbaijan said it issued a formal objection to the Russian ambassador on Friday following the embassy damage. An explosion from a Moscow's missile demolished a section of the embassy’s perimeter wall and caused significant destruction to the diplomatic compound, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry stated. There were no personnel injured, and a ministry spokesperson said the diplomatic mission in Ukraine was maintaining operations.

Russian Aerial Bomb Manufacturing Sees Significant Increase

Russia intends to produce as many as 120,000 glide bombs in the current year, a senior Ukrainian intelligence official disclosed, among them 500 of an innovative, longer-range version that can reach additional urban centers. Moscow's military have been launching 200 to 250 aerial bombs daily, with the previous month's average daily usage being about 170, based on defence ministry data.

Ukrainian Attacks Target Russian Oil Facilities

Moscow's Black Sea port of the port city temporarily suspended crude shipments on Friday – representing two percent of global supply – after a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Military commanders in Kyiv stated its military had launched domestically produced missiles and deployed multiple kinds of attack UAVs in the attack on Novorossiysk “within the framework of operations to reduce the strategic capabilities of the invading force.”

Ukrainian forces separately struck a processing plant in Russia’s Saratov region and a fuel storage facility in the adjacent Engels region during the night.

Global Sanctions Impact Russian Energy Company

Russia’s second-largest oil producer Lukoil announced this past Friday it is negotiating with interested parties regarding its foreign assets following recent restrictions from the UK and the US and the collapse of an agreement with the Gunvor trading house. “Final arrangements are to be disclosed once conclusive negotiations have been reached and required authorizations have been obtained,” the company stated.

Ukrainian President Schedules Visit to Spain

The Ukrainian leader is scheduled to travel to the Spanish capital, Madrid, on Tuesday to meet with parliament members following his visit to Paris, Spanish parliamentary officials disclosed. The Ukrainian president will convene with representatives from all houses of the legislature during his visit, an official announcement confirmed.
