Mohamed Salah Offers Statement to Teammates, Says Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that Salah said sorry to the team following the fallout from his recent interview.
The Incident
He was omitted from a European match subsequent to voicing frustrations and stating his rapport with Arne Slot had deteriorated.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, please accept my apology.’”
The manager has refused to reveal on whether he was apologised to from the veteran striker.
Moving Forward
The player stated that the squad's reaction was unchanged. “He was his usual self, he was smiling and we all treated him normally,” the midfielder explained.
The midfielder also suggested that a player's desire to start is preferable. “I understand there are certain ways you can express yourself,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just sit out, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Positive Results
The team's performance have been impressive in the games following the interview fallout. The player is convinced the forward's comments were never meant to harm the team.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it’s always been from a desire to win,” Jones concluded. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, playing well and on a positive run.”
