Los Angeles Erupts in Celebration as Los Angeles Dodgers Secure Second World Series Championship
The City of Angels experienced citywide festivities after the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched a thrilling seven-match World Series title. Fans across the globe united with local residents in celebration, marking the initial time in 25 years that a franchise has achieved back-to-back championships.
Victory Parade Draws Massive Crowds
Los Angeles area celebrations included a downtown parade on Monday morning, a ticketed rally at Dodger Stadium, and spontaneous parties across the city.
Online footage depict thousands of Los Angeles residents flooding downtown streets, many carrying handmade banners and Dodger flags. The squad was seen riding high on a double-decker bus through the masses, raising the Commissioner’s trophy high.
“My focus is already about the third time we’re going to achieve this,” the star player stated through an interpreter.
The parade route concluded at the stadium, where the team walked out to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard providing music and the artist driving a light blue vintage Cadillac around the stadium’s outfield.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Player Reactions
Celebrations started prior to the procession, with supporters lighting fireworks in the streets of Downtown Los Angeles on Sunday night.
The World Series MVP, awarded the World Series’ Most Valuable Player, commented plainly about the victory.
“Losing is not an option,” he stated. “I adore this team. This city means everything to me.”
Mixed Reactions and Community Spirit
In contrast, Mark Walter received a cooler welcome at the celebration. Video footage from the gathering seem to depict him taking the stage to a combination of applause and jeers, with jeers punctuating his address.
The championship acted as a bright spot in what has been a trying year for Los Angeles. An estimated 225,000 people showed up to the championship parade last year, and according to team member Freddie Freeman, supporters this year showed as much if not more support.
“It seems it’s almost double from last year,” Freeman said. “The supporters are incredible. It’s truly amazing to be a part of this.”
