Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

The statement noted wreckage landed in a residential area in the capital, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
