Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors report that a ex- doctor now faces charges for carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were patients.

The Grave Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

A senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

List of Offences

Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences include:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
