Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of heroes who will separate from the central cast to begin their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The adventurer knows the region and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could enable the team enter places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to head to Timmony in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Seekers and Planners parties.
Audiences can look forward to learning which characters will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on next week.
