A Pig's Tale: Pig Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Mayor.

While perhaps not at the identical stature as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the Miami-Dade County mayor had her own presidential-style act this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” Levine Cava said in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of pardons issued from the start of the beginning of a second term in office.

“If we disregard eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence without fear.”

The event, which both honors and questions the region’s Hispanic tradition of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to replicate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The pig, provided by a first responder, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – deriving from a rap song lyric – often without clear purpose. The trend became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently named “six-seven” its top term for the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

The pardoned swine is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to begin the festive period,” said the event host, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It represents the character of Miami: joyful, varied, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Each year, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach fritters and cafecito as they celebrated the swine's new lease on life.
